Wind Energy
WE HAVE ELECTED A PRESIDENT WHO PROMISES TO RAISE OUR ENERGY RATES. THAT IS GOOD. THAT WILL LEAVE US LESS MONEY TO SPEND ON VACATIONS TO THE DESERT WHERE WE WILL BE ABLE TO SEE THOUSANDS OF THESE GORGEOUS WINDMILLS WHICH, INCIDENTALLY, SCREW UP THE ECOLOGICAL SYSTEM OF THE DESERT. NICE PICTURE. I LOVED THE DESERT THE WAY IT WAS................ROB

two grasses
THANKS TO PETRA 55 FOR A BEAUTIFUL PHOTO OF TWO GRASSES, plus some most appealing little red flowers...
When I was younger, I rarely noticed tall grasses or really much that had to do with flora, gardening or plants. Yes, the woods were great for hiking, the flowers and nature were all beautiful, but as time has passed, I have learned to appreciate so much more. This is, perhaps, a blessing of time; it could be a part of the growing up and growing older process, but there is so much beauty in that which sprouts from the ground we tread upon or around. Your photos reflect a great respect and love for your flowers and nature. Thanks for your comments on my erroroniously tagged plants. I do love both cannas and hastas.

THIS IS A PHOTO BY 19keung, taken on 14 April 2009. I do not know where it was taken, but it is unique and makes me think it is a world away from where I am. This is interesting as a black and white photo, therefore, I believe it would make an excellent subject for a pen and ink drawing. I believe I will try to make a pen and ink drawing of this excellent scene.
THANKS TO photographer 19keung for permitting me to feature this photo in my online journal...

TRIBUTE TO VAN GOGH THROUGH DOORWAY
This is one of my best photos.................. I love van gogh and marvel at his talent. His thoughstream must have looked a lot like his paintings. Has anyone ever researched the idea that he was one of the types like the rainman in his talents? One thing that is evident but not mentioned too often is his multi-styles. Rob

QUIK TRIP: AMERICA'S FAVORITE GAS STATION
THROUGHOUT THE YEARS, AMERICA HAS HAD FAVORITE SPOTS AND FAVORITE PLACES FOR A LITTLE OF THIS AND A LITTLE OF THAT. IN TODAY'S FAST-PACED LIFESTYLE, AMERICANS SEEM TO LINGER A BIT AT QUIK TRIP. I HAVE NOTICED THAT SOME PEOPLE ACTUALLY BREATHE A SIGH OF RELIEF WHEN THEY ENTER THE STORE. WHY NOT? IT IS TIME FOR A BREAK, TIME FOR A FAVORITE MIX YOUR OWN CONCOCTION OF SOFT DRINKS, FIX UP A FANCY COFFEE WITH A MYRIAD BLEND OF FLAVORS. AND THERE'S THE FOOD: GREAT HOT DOGS AND BRATS, SOME ANGUS BURGERS (I TRIED MY FIRST ONE THE OTHER DAY AND IT WAS TOTALLY DELICIOUS). SPRINKLY DONUTS FOR THE GRANDCHILDREN KEEP ME SAVING FOR THEIR TREATS. THE BROWNIES ARE ADDICTIVE. SERIOUSLY, THE BEST BROWNIE IN THE USA. WHAT;S MORE, I HAVE NOTED THAT THERE IS HARDLY EVER A GRUFF WORD HEARD IN A QT; THE CLERKS ARE PERSONAL AND FAST. YOU MUST BE FAST. THEY ARE TOTALLY FAST AT CHECKING ONE OUT. THEY KEEP THEIR COOL. THEY CHECK LOTTERY TICKETS. THEY CHECK IDs. THEY ARE FRIENDLY AND PROFESSIONAL. AND LIFE GOES ON, HAPPILY AS EVER, ESPECIALLY AFTER A FEW MINUTES AT A QUIK TRIP. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE FINE EMPLOYEES WHO WORK AT ONE OF AMERICA'S FAVORITE GAS STATIONS. ROBERT L. HUFFSTUTTER
